Texas State Championships and Windsurfing Festival

When: April 21 and 22

On-site Registration: Saturday, 8:30am - 10:00am

Official Announcment: The 2012 North Texas Wind Riders Texas State Championship Windsurfing Regatta at the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club (www.DCYC.org), on April 21st, is shaping up to be one of the best events our club has hosted to date! Mariner Sails, and Aris Tsamis will of course be hosting again, and we are very privileged to have their continued support for our festivals! As a very special treat this year, we will be joined by 8 time world champion windsurfer Kevin Pritchard, who is an Ezzy Sails representative! Tony Kardol will also be in attendance bringing RRD boards, and Loft Sails! A BIC rep, and an ABK rep will also be bringing some of their awesome gear, as well as many other sponsors! Remember, every registered racer wins something at our awards ceremony and raffle drawing on Sunday morning!

Camping on the shore line is welcome again on Friday, and Saturday night! DCYC's location is on the north shore of Lake Lewisville, and the setting is like no other! The beautifully lit toll bridge crossing the lake is elegantly reflected on the water at night! This relaxing, and picture perfect setting is great for sipping drinks, and trading stories with fellow windsurfers. Those who arrive on Friday night, usually pile into vehicles and go up the street to the Prairie House restaurant for dinner. Lunch (Subway), dinner (BBQ), and drinks are provided on Saturday, to those who register and pay the nominal fee's (not just the racers). Also, the restroom and shower facilities at DCYC are excellent!

There will be live music on Saturday night from the band ZionaurA, who also entertained us at the 2011 Pumpkin Cup, with their Reggae, Rock, Island style music with horns and congas! Two of our very own NTWR windsurfers, Jet Tessmann, and Guillermo Perez are in this band. There will also be a 50/50 raffle drawing on Satruday night to support the band..they will get 50% of the pot, and one lucky winner will get the other 50%!! Raffle tickets will be $5 each..buy as many as you wish to increase your odds!!

The Skippers meeting is scheduled for 10am on Saturday April 21st. The races will begin shortly after that, and continue throughout the day, with several different categories such as: beginner fun fleet, 7.5sqm limited, Open, and Slalom!! Every racer gets an event T-Shirt! Spectators are welcome, and we will have an area of the shoreline set up with some provisions.

Local media and news cameras have been invited to cover this event! Expect to see us on the news, as we boost the popularity of our favorite sport to the public!
