| I have all my insurance with State Farm. Yesterday I called them to see if I could add my windsurfer to a policy that would protect it when I have it strapped to the top of my truck. They informed me that State Farm doesn't write on windsurfers. Anybody else experienced this? There are folks out there that have a lot more gear than I do. How do you protect your gear in case of an accident on the road? |

I also have State Farm and asked about my gear and they said it was covered by my home owners (or renters insurance) (not car). Basically most everything you own, no matter where it is, is covered by homeowners insurance if stolen or lost unless specifically stated otherwise in your policy (exceptions being - boats, jet skis, cars, trailers, limits on cash and jewelry, etc.)
Sometimes the policy excludes "water craft", so that's why you need something in writing to be sure. Kayaks, water skis, SUP, jet ski, boats, windsurfer, etc., you need a definition of water craft if that's an exclusion.
The fact that your board is on top of your car may be the issue, not locked inside something. |

| It is covered as contents on my homeowners, but not when I have it on the road. That is the problem. |
